Shettles method have been around since the 1960’s and thousands of couples who want to conceive the gender of their choice have turned to this method. It is obviously named after the man who put together the concept – Dr. Shettles. The Shettles Method has the advantages of bearing no cost and requiring no medical treatments to conceive.
Shettles presents a process that includes the timing of intercourse. The key is to know when exactly the ovulation occurs. If you want to conceive a baby boy, having intercourse for 4-5 days prior to ovulation is not advisable. To conceive a girl, daily intercourse from the end of a woman’s period until 2-4 days prior to ovulation is recommended. Then avoid intercourse 2-3 days after ovulation or you’ll get a baby boy.
This process can be hard specially to those women who has irregular menstrual cycle. And by following this method, it only decreases your chances to conceive a baby, as you are not having intercourse during your peak fertile times. So if you care more about getting pregnant than conceiving a baby girl or a baby boy, then Shettles method may not be good for you.
The Shettles method effectivity rate might be around 70-80%. Though this method might work for you and your partner, there are other methods available that address other issues other than when a couple should or should not have intercourse. These can be also found in the book How to Conceive the Gender of Your Choice.
